Gertrude "Trudy" Moore Laing, 94, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2021. A freelance writer, she was employed by federal and state agencies and the private sector. A contributing writer to The Antique Trader and numerous other publications, she also served as a board member for the Franklin County Trust for Historic Preservation and she was one of the original founders of Capital EXPO. Trudy is survived by her son, Roger D. Laing of Frankfort and a brother, Herman F. Moore of Smyrna, Georgia. She was the widow of W. Hoyt Laing and the daughter of the late Forest B. and Leilah N. Moore. She was also preceded in death by her brothers David Thornton Moore, Roger Davis Moore, and Blackburn Moore, and her sisters Patricia McDonald and Sarah Shearer. A memorial service will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 18th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital City Activity Center or the American Red Cross.
