I am thankful to have wonderful friends from my time at UVa and just as grateful to have known and spent time with some of their parents. It was easy to see where my friend Shannon got her quick wit and sense of humor. Mrs. Carpenter welcomed us to her home at a moment's notice and I'm so grateful that I could spend time with the entire Carpenter family on many, many occasions. Peace to you all.

Earliest memory with Carol was riding the rides at King’s Island in Cincinnati long before it became the huge venue it is today. Remembering both her sense of humor and shyness. Also fond of summers ant our Poppy and Granny’s during our summer visits. Croquet on the Winkle’ big lawn, trips to the forbidden creek, sleeping in the big feather bed, climbing in the barn, milking with Wayne, being chased by Granny’s fierce rooster, eating warm tomatoes in the garden, making tiny dolls with hollyhocks. How sweet it was.

Carol was our friend in name only. She will always be family to us. Her son Brian and our sons, Mike and Tim have been friends since they were young lads. We refer to Brian as our third son as we include him in all of our family activities. As for Carol, she was kind, loving, funny, friendly, and just an absolute joy to be around. Wy memories loved when she would come to visit Brian in Charleston as we knew we were in for an evening of fun and laughter. Her spirit will live on as will the many memories of our times together. She will be dearly missed and will forever be a part of our family.

Joyous is the word that comes to mind when I think of Carol. Always a smile or a laugh or words of kindness. We'll miss her very much.

Never a dull moment with Carol around. Funny, loving and wise!!
I remember her telling stories of their time in alcohol-free Saudi Arabia and Dan and friends brewing their own beer. Her description of the houseboy using trashcan lids as a shield to protect himself from bottle caps spontaneously bursting off of the over-fermented beer had us rolling!!!
Happy reunion with your love, Carol. Give each other a hug for us!!! Love, love, love!!!

Kelli and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I did not know Carol but sounds like she and I could have had some margaritas together ;-) Wishing you all a grief journey that includes sharing lots of loving and joyful memories.
