Dear Marshall Family,
My name is Buffy and I wanted to express my sincere condolences. At a time like this I find the scriptures to be a source of comfort. At Isa 41:13 it says " For I Jehovah your God am grasping your right hand, The One saying to you 'Don't be afraid. I will help you.' May God continue to be with your family.

Greg was one of the sweetest guys I have ever know. I worked with Greg in the 70's when he was new to Texas at Burnett Elementary. He was my son's fourth teacher and I worked at the school. He was truly a friend for my son Bryan and his best friend Daryl Deloney. The three of them had many adventures during that time and years to come. Greg was getting into being a Texan and he loved to have the boys to tag along.. He left Pasadena ISD and went to Clear Creek and then had my nephew, David West in his class. He has been a long-life friend to me and my family. I feel very blessed to have him as a friend. I am so sorry I had lost contact the last few years.
God Bless you and his family You are in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Connie Birmingham.

To Greg's family,
Greg was a wonderful man. He was principal at Greene Elementary and hired me. He was spontaneous, vibrant, fun, compassionate, and passionate about students and his faculty. I would say that you never knew what to expect from Greg, but you kind of did! He brought joy to many students and adults and I will miss his Christmas cards every year. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. I know he is in heaven taking it by storm. :)

Greg hired me as a 2nd grade teacher at P.H Greene right out of college. I'll never forget that, after meeting him at a job fair, he and his secretary MaryNell both called my parents to reassure them that Greene was a school that I would be very happy teaching at as a new teacher...before I even accepted a job:)
The summer before I began my teaching job, Greg called to ask if I needed to borrow any furniture to set up my apartment. That was the kind of principal Greg was. He loved the students, loved the school and cared for his teachers in a way most principals did not. I am so lucky to have worked for a principal such as Greg. He expected so much from his staff and students and in return, gave so much of himself. He was such a kind, thoughtful and fun loving person. I am so sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of working with Greg at Hall Elementary for a few years before he became Principal of Greene Elementary. He was an outstanding educator, motivator of children and staff, and friend. He was such a talented individual, and I will always think of him when I look at the 2 pieces of art that he created and hang in our home. He will be missed, but I know he was ready to go home when he moved back to Kentucky to be closer to family. Shelley and I enjoyed many fun and memorable times with Greg over the years, and those memories will remain cherished by both of us.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Greg's family and friends.
