Ann Turner Lewis passed away suddenly at the UK Medical Center on Saturday, October1st. She was born on March 28, 1924 in Richmond, VA. She and her late husband James R. Lewis, Sr. owned and operated The Southern Hotel from 1950 to 1975. At the time if her death, she was working for the Legislative Research Commission (LRC), which was one of the greatest joys of her life. In addition to her friends at work, she enjoyed gardening and playing with her faithful dog "Bella".
Along with her husband, Ann was also preceded in death by her youngest daughter Bev Lathrop. Surviving members are her daughter, Carol Lewis, and son, James R. Lewis, Jr. (Regina), both of Frankfort, and a son-in-law, John Lathrop of Lexington. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jeff Lewis (Laura) of Knoxville, Chip Lewis of Bowling Green, Chad Lewis of Frankfort, Cassie Proctor of Lawrenceburg, and John Lathrop and Kasey Lathrop, both of Lexington; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Rogers Funeral Home.
