I am very sorry for your loss. Mr. Gulick was a great mentor and teacher to me my whole professional career in highway design. I was very fortunate to have worked with such a unique individual that was not only passionate about his work but also life. We worked very closely together his last years in Highway Design rewriting the design manual which I think he had helped with at least two other times. He was never short of a story and I listened to some more than once. Still, they were always interesting. He had an unwavering will about him and he knew what he liked down to his type of shoes, the brand of car he drove, his mechanical pencil, and even his 17 year old Glenlevit French Oak Barrel Scotch.
